Each session of our online Comprehensive Program maintains the same format as our classroom program and is documented by a lecture/slide presentation, presentation of cases, a video demonstration of the project mechanic and technique, and instructions for completing the project. Each session builds on information from the previous sessions and is presented in the same sequence you will encounter in treatment delivery.
This session is divided into short and manageable sections to fit into any schedule, and can be paused and reviewed as often as you need. To successfully complete this session just watch each of the lectures, complete the short Evaluation for that section, and then complete the hands-on project.
Session 1 will cover the initial stages of treatment including proper record taking, cephalometric tracing and diagnosis, case selection, and bracket placement. You will learn not only what types of records are required, but also tips for producing quality records and the recommended intervals for repeating this documentation. Well-taken and properly analyzed cephalometric x-rays and tracings will provide you with a valuable addition to your diagnosis and treatment planning. We will present a systematic procedure for establishing the values used to predict the effect of various treatment procedures. We will establish the parameters to help you choose the appropriate cases to treat orthodontically and cover in detail the information you will need to gather in order to properly diagnose the case and establish a treatment plan. The foundation of our course is non-extraction treatment using the Straight Wire Mechanics and Techniques which depend on accurate bracket and band placement. Since it is critical to the success of your cases and is the foundation of our course we cover in detail the features and benefits of the Straight Wire bracket and how to obtain the proper placement using accurate measurements.
COURSE OBJECTIVES - You will learn how to choose cases that you can treat successfully using our case selection criteria. After determining the correct cases we will help you to make a diagnosis and treatment plan using our analysis and interpretation of the ceph tracing, the Schwartz Analysis as it applies to the study model, and the Andrews 6 Keys to Optimal Occlusion as our treatment objective. You will learn how the features of the Straight Wire appliance effects the tooth tip, torque, in and out alignment, rotation and the curve of spee. We will detail how to measure for accurate bracket and band placement and show you bracket placement on a typodont and in the mouth. You will have the opportunity to trace cephs, and learn to place brackets on anatomical teeth and to practice these techniques on a typodont.
