In this mini ortho course we will describe in detail the archwire sequence that we have found to be the most successful, how to best form the archwires, the different properties of archwires and when to know that it is time to move to the next level of treatment. Along with the archwire mechanics we will discuss the types of forces that are appropriate to add, when to add them and how to adapt them. In this segment we present the material with lecture, case presentations, video demonstration of the projects, a written test, and hands-on projects for you to complete. Once you have learned the proper diagnosis and the correct bracket placement this material will make a world of difference to help you achieve finished cases that you will be proud of.
COURSE OBJECTIVES – You will learn which size archwire to use to accomplish your desired results, along with the manipulations that may be necessary, including placing Accentuated Curves /Reverse Curves, cinchback bends, and step in and step out bends. We will discuss the indications for additional forces and the proper adaptation and placement of open coil springs, rotation wedges, chain elastics, pletcher springs and intra-oral elastics. We will also show you how to treat cases that may require cuspid retraction, individual root torque, anterior retraction and obtaining posterior root torque.
