Our course is taught in Tulsa, OK utilizing the same core principles and techniques created, perfected and documented for over 35 years by Big Bob himself. Maintaining the same high standards, today’s Gerety team lead by Kay Gerety, continue to present Big Bob’s curriculum while adding their innovations, new cases and mechanics, updating materials and products and promoting cutting edge techniques and technology in the classroom. Our student- teacher ratio and continued support is unparalleled to any other program. This course will show you innovative solutions that will make orthodontics fun, easy, rewarding, and profitable. The addition of orthodontics to your practice not only increases your profitability, but also adds a new and challenging dimension of service to your patients and practice. This course is ideally structured for the general or pediatric dentist with no orthodontic training other than dental school. Just as you have learned a technique for every other aspect of dentistry, Dr. Gerety’s method of teaching orthodontics will also provide you with a predictable technique. Each session builds on information, presented in the same sequence you will encounter in treatment delivery. When you have completed this course, you will have the knowledge, skill, and confidence to treat 80% of the malocclusions that come into your office.
This comprehensive, five-session (100-hour) seminar series will focus on the fundamentals of orthodontics and is designed exactly as you would treat a patient, from diagnosis and treatment planning, to case finishing mechanics. Upon completion of the course participants will be able to:
• Select the appropriate cases to treat
• Diagnose cases
• Plan patient treatments
• Treat patients using the Straight-Wire philosophy
• Evaluate case progressions
• Use the latest orthodontic treatment options
• Finish cases effectively
The lecture will include both didactic and hands-on instruction with typodonts to facilitate your understanding of our curriculum. Each and every procedure is supported with a detailed slide sequence, patient cases demonstrating the technique, and a video demonstration of each of the 15 clinical projects. New this year is a hands-on photography module added so each student can produce a complete set of images that meet the standard of care guidelines. Participants will receive individual assistance in completing the hands-on projects during each session.
Kay Gerety - Kay assisted Dr. Bob Gerety in teaching their Straight-Wire Orthodontic courses for over 30 years and has been an immeasurable asset to the Comprehensive Orthodontic program. During this same time period, she has taught her own assistant’s clinical program in conjunction with Dr. Gerety’s courses. In addition to the clinical programs, she has lectured extensively on Orthodontic Integration and Profitability, Practice Management and Marketing, and Effective Staff Utilization. Kay is the Director of Education at Gerety Orthodontic Seminars and has been teaching the Gerety Comprehensive Orthodontic Program in Tulsa since 2011.
Damon Huffman - Damon graduated from the University of Texas Dental School at Houston in 1994. The following year he took Dr. Robert Gerety’s GP Comprehensive Orthodontic course. This allowed him to incorporate orthodontics into his busy family practice. In 20 years Dr. Huffman has completed over 700 orthodontic cases following Dr. Gerety’s Straight Wire techniques. He has been an active member of the American Orthodontic Society and the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Huffman received his Fellowship in the AOS in 2011, his Fellowship in the AGD in 2013, and his Diplomate from the AOS in 2015. In 2014 he was named Forum Master of the Gerety Orthodontic Seminars website and we welcomed him to our classroom team as an instructor in 2016.
Joseph Schmidbauer - Joe is an experienced general practitioner from Oregon, Ohio. After completing Dr. Gerety’s Comprehensive Orthodontic Education program in 1989, Dr. Schmidbauer incorporated orthodontics into his practice and has continued to build that practice component utilizing a nonextraction philosophy for 26 years, completing over 2,000 cases. For the last 7 years he has taught the philosophy and mechanics of Dr. Robert G. Gerety in the classroom with the classroom team.
Michael Auld - Michael graduated Magna Cum Laude from Oklahoma Baptist University in 2005, and is a 2009 graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry where he graduated with distinction. Michael joined his uncle's dental practice in McAlester, OK where he practices family dentistry. Michael took our Comprehensive Ortho course in Tulsa in 2011 and immediately began incorporating the Gerety Straight Wire techniques into his practice. Michael has returned to our class each year and has been an invaluable mentor to our first year students and we welcomed him to our team as an Associate Instructor in 2017.
Matthew Standridge - Matt attended college at Wichita State University and then attended UMKC School of Dentistry. After graduating Matt worked in public health in Missouri and Kansas. In 2012 he opened his first practice in Eureka and then bought his second office in Yates Center. In 2017 both offices were merged into one newly remodeled location in Yates Center. Matt is committed to excellence and continuing education, earning his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. Matt graduated from our Comprehensive Ortho program in 2014 and immediately began incorporating the Gerety Straight Wire techniques into his practice. Matt has returned to our class each year and has been an invaluable mentor to our first-year students. In 2017 we welcomed him to our team as an Associate Instructor!

Join us ONLINE too! Our ONLINE ortho course has proven to be an invaluable asset to our classroom students to use as a study aid at home in between sessions and even to make up missed sessions. We will provide limited access to our ONLINE course for all early registration students. It is the best of both worlds! Enjoy the classroom interaction experience and then review the same PowerPoint and lecture materials, and even the project videos that we present in the classroom, ONLINE from the comfort of your home or office.
