Comprehensive Orthodontic Education-Session 1

At Gerety Orthodontic Seminars, we break down the complexity of the diagnostic portion into short chapters. These are easy to manage and they fit well into any schedule, allowing you to pause it and continue whenever you desire. It covers the initial treatment stages, along with how to keep a proper track on records. Learn about cephalometric tracing, diagnosis, bracket placement, and case selections. We will help you to choose appropriate cases to treat and cover all the information you need to establish a treatment plan. It will cover the benefits of the straight wire bracket, and guide you on how to obtain proper placement and use accurate measurements. To complete this session successfully, you have to watch the lecture videos, complete the hands-on project and short evaluation for that section. For further details on this session, you can visit our online courses section on our website.

Comprehensive Orthodontic Education-Session 2

This is a 25 credit hours session and focuses on the introduction to Dr. Gerety’s Archwire Sequence, the ligation methods and force systems. It includes the best ways to use the multi-distalizing arch, along with the importance of the phase I interceptive treatment with the use of fixed bands and brackets with archwires along with open coil spring. You will learn about the properties of archwires; when and what auxiliary should be used with what size wire. This session will include details about how you can include straight wire appliances with an archwire sequence along with open coil spring. For more details, go through the information on our online courses category.

Comprehensive Orthodontic Education-Session 3

In this session, we will update you with mechanics and skills to address aspects like single tooth crossbites, impacted cuspids, cuspid retraction, and others. You can view several case presentations, and view the mechanics we discussed. This session will focus on case finishing techniques, and it will include procedures you should complete in the rectangular wire sequence. We will also introduce treatment using the lip bumper to rotate molars, and to remove any form of lip pressure. For more information on the session, please go through the details on our website.

Comprehensive Orthodontic Education-Session 4

The focus of this session will include discussion of treatment involving:  Indications for Phase I Interceptive Treatment to include premature loss of deciduous cuspids, crowding of permanent incisors, excessive overjet, anterior and posterior crossbite, timing and treating maxillary labial frenum and the class III skeletal discrepancy, as well as the mechanics for dealing with palatal and labial cuspid impactions, and molar uprighting.

Many class III skeletal discrepancies can be corrected if intercepted at any early age and if the deficiency is in the maxilla and midface.  We will discuss the treatment of skeletal class III malocclusions with the use of the Reverse Face Mask and show cases using this mechanic.

Treatment of impacted cuspids and the uprighting of molars present many different considerations prior to determining a treatment sequence. Is the tooth labial or palatal? Is the impacted tooth rotated? Is referral surgery required to expose the tooth? After exposure, what attachment can be placed on the exposed tooth? Is there sufficient space in the arch for the tooth? Your answers to these questions will help to determine the treatment sequencing. This session will detail the treatment of impacted cuspids and the uprighting of molars through lecture and case presentations.

Along with each of the techniques, numerous case presentations can be viewed that illustrate all of the mechanics that are discussed.
