Embracing a New Era
Gerety Orthodontic Seminars celebrates its First Birthday!
It is so hard to believe that it has been one year since we launched our orthodontic website at the Gerety All Class Reunion in Dallas. Our original goal for the website was to preserve and present the clinical documentation and the teaching materials that Big Bob Gerety devoted his career developing. We wanted to continue sharing his work with his students so that we can insure the material will be available to all who desire to further their own orthodontic education. Our original thought was to use our ortho website to present Bob’s cases, and have we every exceeded those expectations! This year has been filled with accomplishments for us, the grandest being the completion of our Online Comprehensive Ortho Course. We are so proud to be offering our entire 4 session orthodontic education seminar for the general dentist online; Bob and I have been so devoted to teaching this material in classrooms across the country for years and it was a passion for us to continue to have it available. The response to our Online ortho course has truly been amazing, if you haven’t had the opportunity to be introduced to the online course just contact me through the website and I will provide you with access to preview our ortho course.
Our Case Library has made tremendous strides forward. This is the area where you can view a variety of cases treated by Dr Robert Gerety and includes a month by month description and illustration of the treatment mechanics and their application. Each step of the treatment process is outlined and explained, allowing you to easily identify a patient scenario in the library that is similar to a case that you may be treating and use that case as a treatment guide. We did discover from our first cases that we could offer pictures with a higher clarity and have responded by converting our photos to high resolution and are currently in the process of implementing this upgrade to enhance your experience throughout the Case Library.
During this year we have also added an enhancement to our member’s Forum; you can now upload and post your pictures along with your comments. We welcome and encourage our members to utilize this area to network with your colleagues sharing thoughts and ideas with each other.
In an effort to share our latest news with you we are delighted to offer the addition of the News Articles and the newly created Calendar of Events sections. We are updating these areas regularly too, so visit often and we will do our best to keep you up to date with all of our news. We have even added pictures to our news articles so you can see where we have been, because in the midst of building our website we have also managed to have 3 Orthodontic Study Group meetings in Dallas, a Basic Ortho Assistant course, an Advanced Ortho Assistant course and attend the AGD Annual Meeting and the CDA Annual Meeting!
While we are so proud of where our orthodontic education website is today, we are not resting on our laurels! We have an exciting vision for our future and are striving to provide our membership with a resource they can rely upon for their ortho education needs regardless of whether you are just beginning to learn ortho or want to further the continuation of your orthodontic studies. We have just accomplished another of our goals and hope that you will take a minute to visit our Virtual Tour that will guide you through all the areas of our website with an explanation of each of the areas. Do you know that we have an area where you can submit your own ortho cases for help with treatment diagnosis, treatment planning and troubleshooting? The Virtual Tour will provide you with a complete explanation on how to utilize the My Case area to get help with your own cases and will guide you through other areas you may not know are there!
Our other goals for this next year are to continue to sharpen the photos with high resolution photos in the Case Library, and as we continue to add more cases we will provide free access to select cases from our Home Page. During the creation of our Online orthodontic course we learned many ways that we can make it even better and we are concentrating now on implementing these upgrades. We are also looking forward to providing online ortho workshops, webinars, and providing portions of our curriculum as standalone ortho courses. We are working diligently to continue to provide the same high quality orthodontic education to the general dentist that Big Bob Gerety presented for so many years, which he based on Commitment, Integrity and Excellence.
