Embracing a New Era

It's Back to School Time - Session 1 of our Comprehensive Ortho Course was Outstanding!

Modified: March 25, 2016 - 05:24 AM by Robert Gerety

We were so happy to welcome another new class of students to the Robert Gerety Comprehensive Orthodontic Education Program in Tulsa Sept 21-23. It was an incredibly fulfilling experience to be in the classroom presenting Big Bob's ortho course to such a wonderful and enthusiastic group! This is our second year teaching our ortho course in Tulsa and it is thrilling to see our group growing.

We had established a big goal for session one and had lots of information to cover, with our focal point being the initial stages of treatment. We did well at maintaining our focus and covered several topics which included proper record taking, Cephalometric analysis, diagnosis and treatment planning, and the proper placement of brackets and bands. We also discussed marketing and practice management for integrating orthodontics into your practice and how the addition of orthodontics into your practice not only increases your profitability, but also adds a new and challenging dimension of service to your patients and practice.

While our group worked hard and accomplished a tremendous amount we also had time to have some fun and get acquainted with each other Friday night at our Happy Hour. It was a pleasure meeting all of our new students and seeing our monitors again and we are looking forward to another spectacular course!

Session two is coming up Oct 26-28 and will be here before we know it. We will be building on the lessons that we presented in session one with the introduction of Big Bob Gerety’s archwire sequence, force systems, ligation methods, and the use of the Multi-Distalizing Arch. We hope that all of our participants bring cases to review on Sunday! The case review segment of our ortho course is an invaluable part of our program and offers our students the opportunity to present cases for help with initial diagnosis and treatment sequencing or troubleshooting cases that are currently in treatment.   This exposure to many different cases and situations provides the participants a huge variety of mechanics and solutions.

Our ortho course is being held in Tulsa, OK at the Crowne Plaza Southern Hills. The dates for the remaining sessions are:

October 26-28, 2012

January 18-20, 2013

March 15-17, 2013

April 26-28, 2013
