We are excited to have Dr Debra Ettle-Resnick presenting the Orthodontic Update on Friday. The topics that she will be discussing will include:

On Saturday Dr. Joe Schmidbauer and Kay Gerety will be presenting a full day defining the pitfalls of Case Finishing. If you have ever asked yourself the question, "How can I better detail and finalize my orthodontic cases," this is a program you will not want to miss. Identifying the most commonly overlooked aspects of case finishing will enable you to return to your practice with an improved set of parameters for examining each and every patient for the final detailing that defines the case as good or excellent.

About the Instructors

Dr. Debra Ettle-Resnick began her remarkable career in dentistry just out of high school by earning her Dental Assisting degree from Brainerd Technical School. With a passion for dentistry, she graduated from the University of Minnesota—School of Dentistry with her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and in 1992, began private practices in five rural communities in northwestern Minnesota. In 1994, Dr. Resnick incorporated Straight Wire Orthodontics into her procedures and it continues to be a significant part of her practices today. Dr. Resnick is a current member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon – dental honor society. In 2004, she was awarded her Diplomate status from the American Orthodontic Society and currently serves on the Board of Examiners for the American Orthodontic Society. Dr. Resnick is the multiple-recipient of the Robert G. Gerety Case of the Year Award which is presented by the American Orthodontic Society as recognition for the highest level of clinical achievement in orthodontics.

Dr. Joe Schmidbauer is an experienced general practitioner from Oregon, Ohio who has been carefully selected to work with Kay to present the most popular GP comprehensive orthodontics course in America, taught for 35 years by Dr. Robert G. Gerety. He is a 1979 graduate of Ohio State University, College of Dentistry and has maintained a private practice in Ohio for 31 years. After completing Dr. Gerety’s Comprehensive Orthodontic Education program in 1989, Dr. Schmidbauer incorporated orthodontics into his practice and has continued to build that practice component utilizing a nonextraction philosophy for 26 years, completing over 2,000 cases. Dr. Schmidbauer is a member of the American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association, International Association of Orthodontics, and the American Orthodontic Society of which he is a past president and lecturer. He is currently a member of the Board of Examiners for the AOS and is teaching a basic Straight-Wire program in Atlanta, his focus being the teaching philosophy and mechanics of Dr. Robert G. Gerety.

Kay Gerety received her Certified Dental Assistant Certificate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1975. As a practicing Dental Assistant for more than 35 years, she assisted Dr. Bob Gerety in his Straight-Wire Orthodontic courses for over 30 years and has been an immeasurable asset to the Comprehensive Orthodontic program. During this same time period, she has taught her own assistant’s clinical program in conjunction with Dr. Gerety’s courses. In addition to the clinical programs, she has lectured extensively on Orthodontic Integration and Profitability, Practice Management and Marketing, and Effective Staff Utilization. In North Carolina, Kay developed and instructed an in-office program for training Dental Assistants for general dentistry practices. Kay is an associate member of the American Orthodontic Society and is an honored recipient of the George R. Roland Award for Outstanding Service to the organization. A highly enthusiastic presenter, Kay is motivating, as well as knowledgeable, enabling her students to return to your practice with a renewed excitement and enthusiasm for dentistry and their ability to contribute.
