Embracing a New Era

Our Guide to choosing Orthodontic Cases

Modified: July 19, 2019 - 09:19 AM

As you begin incorporating orthodontics into your practice, you may find it sometimes difficult and maybe even overwhelming when deciding on which cases you choose to treat or more importantly, the ones not to treat.  However, the good news is that with our support, you can tackle so many cases with the confidence you need to get successful results.  As a beginner in our Gerety Orthodontic Seminars programs, you can rest assured that you're receiving expert guidance in the selection of your orthodontic cases.

Bite Issues in Young Patients

To prevent long-term bite issues in young patients, we want you to have the tools to readily identify children who have strong class II and III occlusions, crowding, or destructive habits such as tongue thrust or thumb sucking.  Once you have determined the child’s maturity as well as the right appliances, you will be ready to begin their treatment.  During the orthodontic programs and courses we've set for you at Gerety Orthodontic Seminars, you will learn how to resolve bite issues in young patients.

Pseudo Class III

At first, this may seem like an intimidating case, but it is one that will give you the opportunity to make a significant impact on the appearance of your patient. During our Phase I, Interceptive Early Treatment session, we will guide you with the specifics that you need for confidence to begin treatment. Case appearances can sometimes be misleading, so it is best that you choose the course of treatment for each individual case and at Gerety Orthodontic Seminars, we will direct you in making that decision.

Rotated and Missing Teeth

Cases involving rotated or missing teeth can be considered for treatment once proper orthodontic records have been gathered and evaluated.  Our courses will guide you through all the necessary steps to treat them successfully.

Crowding Cases

Crowded teeth result when patients do not have enough space in their jaw for the teeth to fit properly. Eventually, this can cause overlapping or even repositioning to the back or the front of the arch. Such teeth are more difficult to brush and floss and eventually can lead to gum disease and tooth decay.  Our courses will fully instruct you with treatment options to correct and resolve these crowding issues.
