Embracing a New Era

Session One of Our Comprehensive Ortho Course Was Exciting! We Are Still Welcoming New Students!

Modified: March 25, 2016 - 06:10 AM by Robert Gerety

We were so happy to welcome another new class of students to the Robert Gerety Comprehensive Orthodontic Education Program in Tulsa Sept 11-13. This is the fifth year teaching our ortho course in Tulsa and it is continuing to be an incredibly fulfilling experience to be in the classroom presenting Big Bob's orthodontic program to such a wonderful and enthusiastic group! It’s not too late to join our course, we are still welcoming doctors who want to learn orthodontics. Our full course is available online, which means you can make-up session one online and still join our classroom in November. New students can still take advantage of the interest-free extended payment plan as well!

We established a big goal for session one and had lots of information to cover, with our focal point being the initial stages of treatment. We met our goal and managed to cover all of the planned topics which included proper record taking, Cephalometric analysis, diagnosis and treatment planning, and the proper placement of brackets and bands. We also discussed marketing and practice management for integrating orthodontics into your practice and how the addition of orthodontics into your practice not only increases your profitability, but also adds a new and challenging dimension of service to your patients and practice.

While our group worked hard and accomplished a tremendous amount we also had time to have some fun and get acquainted with each other Friday night at our Happy Hour. It was a pleasure meeting all of our new students and seeing our monitors again and we are looking forward to another spectacular course! The value of free monitoring for our students certainly works both ways. Not only is it an opportunity for the participants from last year to hear the presentation again and present their cases in treatment, they provide a ton of information to the new students by sharing their learning experiences. The return of monitors to the classroom is a definite win-win situation for everyone.

Session two is coming up Nov 13-15 and will be here before we know it. We will be building on the lessons that we presented in session one with the introduction of Big Bob Gerety’s archwire sequence, force systems, ligation methods, and the use of the Multi-Distalizing Arch. We hope that all of our participants bring cases to review on Sunday! The case review segment of our ortho course is an invaluable part of our program and offers our students the opportunity to present cases for help with initial diagnosis and treatment sequencing or troubleshooting cases that are currently in treatment. This exposure to many different cases and situations provides the participants a huge variety of mechanics and solutions.

We are always striving to improve our course and add features that will enhance our student’s experience in our program. A recent addition is "The Clinician’s Corner" which is an area designated for us to spend individual time with our students. We have instruments and items on hand to demonstrate techniques and help you to improve your skills, we can answer your questions about your cases, or we can help with questions that have come up during the course. Don’t be bashful, visit with us at The Clinician’s Corner!

Our ortho course is being held in Tulsa, OK at the Crowne Plaza Southern Hills. The dates for the remaining sessions are:

November 13 - 15, 2015

January 8 - 10, 2016
