Gerety Orthodontic Seminars hit the road along with our friends at Straight Wire Seminars and attended the Oklahoma Dental Association Annual Meeting and the California Dental Association Annual Meeting in a short but fun filled 2 week period. We had so much news to share and are so appreciative that we had the opportunity to see so many familiar faces and make new friends as well. We presented live demonstrations of our Orthodontic website, including our Online Comprehensive Ortho Course and Big Bob's Case Library. The positive responses and the enthusiasm our website received was overwhelming Our past students were so relieved to know that Big Bob's ortho course is still available for them to review online and to use as a training aid for their staff and associates. What an outstanding weekend we had presenting our 2 courses in Tulsa, the fourth session of the Robert Gerety Comprehensive Orthodontic Education Program and also Kay Gerety's Basic Ortho Training for Assistants. It was such a pleasure to welcome back to the Comprehensive course so many of our friends from past courses who attended this weekend as monitors. How nice it was to get caught up with each other's news, and to see them sharing their cases and sharing their experience with our new students was very rewarding. Perhaps the brightest part of the weekend was Big Bob's attendance on Saturday morning. Big Bob came by and visited with the monitors and also spent some time talking with our new students as well. It was great to have him join us for the classroom sessions as well as staying for the lunch and learn. Kay had a very enthusiastic group in her Basic Assistant course and we sincerely appreciate all who attended and hope that they enjoyed the experience as much as we did. About the Course This 2 day, hands-on course for experienced Orthodontic Assistants is designed to meet the needs of doctors and assistants who are currently utilizing Straight-Wire mechanics, and would like to expand the delegable duties to be performed by the assistant. Although it is not mandatory to have participated in Kay Gerety s Basic Assistant Course, this advanced course is specifically structured to enhance and develop the principles and techniques taught in the basic course. Additionally, it will provide an excellent follow-up for assistants who have previously participated in the Basic Assistant Course or who have extensive experience in orthodontic assisting. We were able to sustain the momentum from our first two sessions and had a truly amazing weekend during session 3 in Tulsa. Our class is an enjoyable group of enthusiastic dentists that just continue to prove that they are dedicated to furthering their orthodontic educations. They are honestly a pleasure to be working with. They are so dedicated that they worked through lunch on Saturday when Kay presented a Lunch Learn on the Wide Wonderful World of Archwires which unraveled the mysteries of all the types of archwires. The Lunch Learn was such a success that we have invited Clinipix to present a photography Lunch Learn during session four. During session one our focal point was on the initial stages of treatment which covered proper record taking, cephalometric analysis, diagnosis and treatment planning, and the proper placement of brackets and bands. Session two we focused on building on the concepts from session one and introduced Big Bob's archwire sequence, force systems, ligation methods, and the use of the Multi-Distalizing Arch.
